Dr. C.G Krishnadas Nair, Former Chairman, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, and fellow, Indian National Academy of Engineering is a Padma Shri Awardee for outstanding contributions in Engineering Science and Technology. He is a technologist and Industry leader of eminence. During his distinguished professional career spanning over 36 years, he has made significant lifetime contributions in Engineering Education, Research and Industry Management.

He has been a member of various scientific advisory councils and committees like the Scientific Advisory Committee to the Cabinet, Govt. of India, Research Council, Regional Research Laboratory, National Aerospace Laboratories, Governing Council, Jawaharlal Nehru Research and Development Centre for Aluminium, and Standing Scientific Advisory Committee, Department of Steel and Mines, Government of India. He has served as president for two leading Professional Associations, viz., President, Aeronautical Society of India, and President, Indian Institute of Metals. He has been a director / member board of several public and private sector corporates.

He has won several awards and honours for his contribution in the field of engineering, science and technology and management. These include Padmashree from Government of India in 2001, Scope Award for best Chief Executive and Gold Plaque, Birla Gold Medal, Indira Gandhi Priyadarshini Award, National Aeronautical Prize, Vasvik Research Award, Omprakash Bhasin Award, Dr.Ambedkar Bharath Shree Award, Rashtriya Ratna Award, National Metallurgist Award, IIM Platinum Award, Swadeshi Science Puraskara, Enterprise Excellence Award, National Award for R&D, FIE Foundation Award and National Award for Best Employer of Physically Handicapped.

Dr. Nair holds a Ph.D. and M.Sc degree from the University of Sask, Canada. He is a B.Tech graduate from IIT Madras. He has presented and published over 200 papers at national and international conferences in the field of aerospace materials, process technologies, management and international co-operation. He has authored 20 books in addition to editing and publishing proceedings of a number of National and International seminars.

In the past, Dr. Nair has held a number of key positions in high-level Research councils, important professional bodies and corporate boards.
