Forensic Science is the application of science to law and its enforcement. Forensic Scientists examine materials to establish or exclude a link between the suspect and the victim or crime scene. Using the latest technologies forensic scientists examine various evidences found at the crime scene and present scientific reports which is admissible in the court of law.
Jain University is the only University in Karnataka which offers B.Sc & M.Sc in Forensic Science. The degree will attract those with an interest in the application of science to the investigation of crime and analysis of evidence. The programme provides an intellectually challenging study of the full range of forensic applications. It is a multi-disciplinary course covering physics, biology, chemistry, psychology and law. The aim of the course is to provide a thorough grounding in the theoretical as well as practical aspects of Forensic Science. It is also a rewarding career choice since it works towards public safety and fight for justice!
The courses are designed to meet the emerging trends in forensic science which is no more limited to body and property but has entered the world of cyber space.
Forensic Science can be broadly grouped into:

| • | Laboratory - Includes chemistry, biology, toxicology, ballistics, fingerprints, questioned documents, marks and impressions, audio & video authentication and computer science |
| • | Field Science - Includes crime scene investigation, fire scene investigation, road / rail / aircraft accident scene investigation and investigation into clandestine drug labs |
