Postgraduate Department of Music Celebrates Composers Day

Jain University’s Department of Music organised COMPOSER’S DAY, a musical tribute to the renowned trinity of Karnatak music composers viz., Thyagaraja, Muthuswami Dikshitar and Syama Sastri and to the other great composers in the history of Karnatic music.
The programme was inaugurated by Dr B M Jaishree - HOD of Music at Bangalore University. The programme commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp by the chief guest followed by invocation and chanting of Saamaveda and Goshthigaana.
The students and the staff at the Department of Music enthralled the audience with their rendition. Some of the compositions were Swarajati in Raaga Bhairavi, Anandaamruthakarshini in Amrutavarshini Raaga, Govardhana Giridhaari in Darbari Kanada and many more. The other keerthanas presented were:

The performers were Prof. T S Rama, Dr. Nagavalli Nagaraj, Anumpama, Sharanya, Tejasvini, and Chandrika.
The highlight of the programme was the rendering of the pancharatna kirtanas. The melodious journey concluded with Sri Tyagaraja’s composition - Endaro Mahanudhaavulu in Raga shri.
