Research Projects
The following research and developmental activities are undertaken by the members of Jain University – Centre for Research in Social Sciences and Education.
National Election Study 2009
The Centre coordinated the Karnataka segment of NES 2009 and undertook the training in survey research for field investigators in entire South India – Trained over a 1000 post graduates students in survey research techniques.
Edited Volume on NES 2004
Edited the publication of the findings of NES 2004 – Book brought out by the Oxford University Press.
All India Youth Study
The Principal Coordinator of the Project is a researcher from the Centre was one of the Principal Coordinators of the first ever survey based Youth Study undertaken in India which has now been published by Sage and was presented at prestigious seminars at Paris and Berlin in June-July 2009.
Learner Centered Study Material
A major project on developing activity based/ theme based learning material for the classrooms. Already developed for Grade 1 and 2.
Global Barometer Study
The Global Barometer Study is a global research project and the Centre houses the Secretariat of the Globalbarometer. The Centre Director represents the South Asian region in the Global Barometer Executive Committee.
ICSSR Projects
The Centre has a segment of an ICSSR Project on Integrative Features of the Indian State. The Centre Project focuses on The Institutional dimensions of Indian Federalism. The project commenced in 2011 and would conclude in 2014.
ICCSR Sponsored Research Project on Quality in Higher Education. The Project aims at developing parameters to assess the quality of higher education in India and evolving models of Quality.
ICSSR Sponsored Research Project on States as the Centre of politics. the project aims at examining the emergence of “states’ as the most primary focus of Indian politics.
ICSSR project on “Social Bases of Regional Political Parties: A study of the performance of Regional Political Parties in the 14th Lok Sabha.
Rajya Sabha Fellowship
Rajya Sabha Fellowship Study on Parliamentary Efficacy and the Role of the Opposition: A comparative Study of the Second and 14th Lok Sabha; A Research project supported by Rajya Sabha.
SDSA Round II
The Second Round of the State of Democracy Study in South Asia is commenced in December 2011. The Centre is involved in this project which involves a survey on public opinion attitudes across six countries of South Asia. The Centre Director is one of the Principal Coordinators of the Project.
India Component Of World Values Survey
The Centre is coordinating the 2010-15 round of the World values Survey in India.
Impact Study Of Mission10x
Centre faculty participated in the impact of a training program targeted at engineering college teaching faculty sponsored by Mission10x.
