Crime Scene Management Workshop

A workshop on 'Crime Scene Management' was organized for the Bengaluru City Police by the Department of Forensic Science, Jain University on 20 January 2018 at the Office of the Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru City.
The workshop intended to impart theoretical and practical knowledge regarding scientific techniques and protocols of managing a crime scene with the perspective of the analysis of evidence at Forensic Science Laboratories to the police personnel, as they are the first point of contact at the scene of crime. The workshop had both theory and practical demonstration session, which covered topics including the importance of crime scene, techniques used to effectively search and locate evidences at the scene of crime and the evidentiary value of objects associated including trace evidences.
The event saw the active participation of around 250 police personnel including traffic police, constables and Police Sub-inspectors. The workshop was inaugurated by Sri Bushan Gulab Rao Borase IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Admin and Sri M. Nanjundaswami IPS, Additional Commissioner of Police, Admin. The workshop began with a theoretical session by Asst. Prof. Sujayaraj, Department of Forensic Science, Jain University which was an interactive session, followed by a demonstration of effective crime scene management using a simulated scene of crime prepared by the faculty members and students. The students also demonstrated various analytical techniques of Forensic Science.
The workshop was well received and appreciated by the Bengaluru City Police.
