About the Conference

Will India’s young and large population contribute to its Demographic Dividend or its Demographic Disaster? What are the policy initiatives and decisions that will provide the positive tilt? Find the answers to these questions and more at the International Conference on the subject.

Demographics do not determine the fate of economic growth, but they are certainly key determinants for an economy's growth potential. Jain (Deemed-to-be University), School of Commerce Studies in association with its industry partner iNurture Pvt. Ltd is piloting an international conference. An aging population coupled with a declining birth rate in the developed world points to a decline in future economic growth. Increase in productivity can lessen the impact of such population shifts and technological advances are the ideal source of productivity boosts. This, however, is a double-edged sword: On one hand, technological progress increases productivity, but at the same time it can eliminate jobs outright, increasing unemployment. As the age makeup of the workforce changes in the future, so will the makeup of the kinds of jobs the economy employs. The two-day international conference is aimed at providing a platform for policy makers, academicians, research scholars and industry practitioners, to deliberate on the dynamics of demographics and its impact at the social, economic, and political level for India and globally.
