Recently Cambridge University Press released the book ‘Religious Practice and Democracy in India’ written by Dr. Sandeep Shastri, Pro Vice Chancellor, Jain University and Dr. Pradeep Chhibber, the South Asia Chair Professor in Political Science at UCB. Dr. Chenraj Roychand, President, Jain University Trust will preside over the Panel.
Dr. Pradeep Chhibber will be the first speaker who will highlight the conclusions presented in the book. This will be followed by responses from Mr. Rajdeep Sardesai, the well-known News Anchor and Consulting Editor of India Today TV and Dr. Irfan Nooruddin, an eminent Political Scientist at Georgetown University. The 9th in the Annual Series of Summer Schools on Quantitative Techniques in Social Science Research organised by Jain University in collaboration with Lokniti-CSDS, New Delhi commenced on 6 July 2015. The 12 day residential Summer School, aims at training doctoral researchers and faculty on the use of quantitative techniques in research. The participants receive `hands-on` training and use a data set to come up with their research questions and make a presentation at the end of the Summer School. They are later encouraged to develop the presentation into a full paper to be published in leading academic journals.
The Resource Persons for the Summer School include Dr. Pradeep Chhibber, South Asia Chair Professor, University of California, Berkeley; Dr. Irfan Nooruddin, Professor at the Edmund Walsh School of Foreign Service, Georgetown University; Dr. Siddarth Swaminathan, Professor, Azim Premji University; Professor Sanjay Kumar, Director CSDS, Delhi; Dr. Suhas Palshikar, Director – Lokniti and Professor, Savitribai Phule University, Pune; Dr. K K Kailash, Asst. Professor of Political Science, University of Hyderabad; Ms. Jyoti Mishra, Lokniti; Dr. Sandeep Shastri, Pro Vice Chancellor, Jain University and Dr. Reetika Syal, Assistant Professor at Jain University. The Workshop has close to 30 participants selected from top Universities from across the country.
