Women’s Week 2015
The Women’s cell Vasudha, School of Graduate Studies, Jain (Deemed-to-be University) celebrated “Women’s Week 2015” on the occasion of International Women's week.
The Women’s cell, work towards creating awareness on issues faced by women in the modern society through various activities like workshops, speech and competitions for students and faculty members, peace marches, celebration of International women’s day and so on.
Various events like Mehendi, Pick and Speak, Creative writing, Jewellery making, Poster making, Collage and Photography were conducted for both UG and PG students. Added to this, Vasudha also conducted one of the famous and fun filled event, “Cook without fire” competition for all the faculty members.
Mehendi and Jewelry making:
Mehendi and Jewelry making event was conducted on the first day of the Women’s week. There was an overwhelming participation and the judges had a very tough time in selecting the right winners.
Poster & Collage Making:
Poster & Collage making event was conducted on 6 March 2015. The participants were requested to complete their collage or poster within the specified time frame. There were two per team who were given respective topics to make the collage. 45-50 teams participated in the competition. The collage and posters were later put for display and all the participants enjoyed participating in the event. Some of the topics include ‘free spirited women’ and ‘Role of women in modern India’
Creative writing competition was mainly conducted to bring out the hidden talent in writing. The participants were made to creatively think and pen down their thoughts on the topic “Changing roles of women in changing times” and in a time frame of 45min – one hour. Even this event received an overwhelming response. The participants were allowed to write in any of the three languages; Hindi, English or Kannada.
Pick & Speak:
Pick and speak was conducted on 9th March’ 2015 and similar to creative writing a topic was given on spot and the participants were asked to talk on the same fluently for two minutes.
Photography competition was conducted along with Pick and Speak. Before the day of the event, the participants were asked to capture pictures related to the “Motherhood” topic. The participants were requested to get their own camera .The beautiful expressions of motherhood were captured by students brilliantly.
Cook without Fire:
Cook without fire competition was conducted on the last day of Women’s Week. This event was mainly conducted for PU, UG & PG faculty members. There were two participants per team who were asked to prepare at least three dishes within the given time duration. The theme was “Mother’s recipe”
