Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Jain University proposed India Studies course under Gen – UK program

Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Jain University has proposed a course for the UK students known as ‘India Studies’ under the Gen-UK India program launched by the British Council in collaboration with the universities of England, Wales and Scotland. The course covers 10 areas of studies - Indian culture, Indian History, Indian society, Indian art, Indian political system and International Relations, Digital revolution in India, Indian fashion and textiles, Indian Media and Cinema, Wellness and Yoga, Indian Culinary science and Indian language system. This course will be completed in two weeks period from 10 to 25 July, 2016. The UK students will carry with them an experience of India in its totality along with the interaction with the students of the host university.

A visit to the Universities of UK was organized by the British Council between 3-8 April 2016 for the members of the delegation of the selected 9 universities from India. Dr. Choodamani Nandagopal, Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences represented the Jain University in all academic meetings and made presentations on Jain University and proposed course at the selected universities in Scotland and England. The prestigious universities participated in these meetings evinced a keen interest in sending their students to Jain University for experiencing India through the course ‘India Studies’. The academic deliberations were conducted in the following universities.
