Jain (Deemed-to-be University) in association with Santhigiri Institute of Culture and Human Development, Thiruvananthapuram organized a two day national seminar on 'Wisdom tradition, cultural creativity and social integration exploring the spiritual legacy of Karnataka' at School of Commerce Studies, Jain (Deemed-to-be University). The seminar was sponsored by Indian Council of Philosophical Research (ICPR), New Delhi.
The seminar was inaugurated in the presence of eminent scholars like Prof. Ramachandra G Bhat, Vice-Chancellor of S-VYASA Yoga University, Jigani, Prof. KKN Kurup, Former Vice-Chancellor of Calicut University, Prof. Sebastian Velassary, Dean, Dept. of Philosophy, Punjab University, Prof. Srikala Nair, Prof. and Dean, Dept. of Philosophy, Sanskrit University Kalady, Kerala, Dr. B T Venkatesh, Adviser, Examination, Jain (Deemed-to-be University), Dr. Mythili P Rao, Dean, Languages, Jain (Deemed-to-be University), Dr. Rajani Jairam, Dean, Student Welfare, Jain (Deemed-to-be University) and Dr. B A Vasu, Center Head, School of Commerce Studies, Jain (Deemed-to-be University). The keynote address was given by Prof. Ramachandra G Bhat. Speaking on the Guru Shishya Parampara, he emphasized on the importance of a guru and described how the knowledge, not mere information is transmitted by the Guru to his pupil. And explained how the pupil will experience a blissful feeling when that knowledge dawns upon him. He also enlightened the audience about our ancient seers who aimed at imparting such a knowledge which led to wisdom. The two day seminar witnessed Scholars from pan India where over sixteen resource papers and twenty two research scholars had presented their papers. The technical sessions were spread over the two days with three sessions on each day. The resource papers were presented on day one and the research scholars presented their papers on day two.
