School of Graduate Studies, Jain University organized an industrial visit for VI Semester B.Sc., students to Anthem Biosciences, located at Bommasandra, Bengaluru on 16 December 2016. HR managers Mr. Amith Kumar and Ms. Navya gave a brief introduction about the company and took students to Microbiology lab and Biotechnology lab. They also presented an insight into the various on-going researches carried out in their labs. Ms. Varsha, a quality head elaborately explained about the downstream process, the various purification techniques like chromatography (HPLC, GCMS, LCMS). Then, Ms. Pallavi explained the industrial based laboratory set-up and about rotary evaporator, oil bath which is used for various reactions. Mr. Maltesh of Analytical Chemistry lab explained about the quantification of drugs synthesized in lab scale where as Ms. Anu Philip briefed about the NMR spectroscopy, 300 and 400 MH NMR spectrometers and also about the various deuterated solvents used for NMR along with the interpretation of one sample 1H NMR spectrum. Mr. Devaiah, from marketing department advised students about the various disciplines that had scope in post-graduation. Finally, the students were taken to a production sector where Mr. Ankur Dutta gave an in-depth knowledge about the industrial fermenter used for the production of various therapeutic proteins and drugs.
