MA (Master of Arts) in Economics

Why take this course?

MA Economics - Economics being the mother of all the social sciences and management, it comes closest to the understanding of the practical life of humans. The growth and power of the economies of the world may be explained and would also depend on the intellect of the economists. Hence economists have the privilege in their hands in shaping the future of the world. The number of young economists being produced by the shrinking number of center’s of excellence is far from adequate to meet the rapid growth of demand for high-quality professionals from the public and private sectors, in addition to meeting the needs of universities for teaching and research. It is in this context that Jain University came forward to establish PG department of Economics in 2009.

What will I experience?

  • You will study the economic behaviour of individuals, firms and governments, which together make up our economic society. You will analyse in detail the separate activity of these components, as well as how they interact with one another, at both a national and an international level. Through studying the program, you will develop a wide variety of specialist skills and examine a range of topical questions that are central to the wellbeing and development of modern economies.

What opportunities might it lead to?

Economics is considered as ever green subject due to its high utility and huge demand in the job markets. Economics is a very important discipline both for career as well as job point of view. Job opportunities have increased manifolds post liberalization, privatization and globalization (LPG), and after merging of world economy. Well-trained economists are in huge demand not only in India but also across the world for rapidly globalizing economic scenario. They are hired as economic analysts, researchers and consultants.
