Eligibility

The qualification required to apply for the program is a minimum of 50% marks in the respective bachelor’s degree or any Life Science Course in UG. Students who are pursuing final year bachelor’s program are also eligible to apply.

Overview

Forensic Science plays a significant role in modern judicial system. Jain (Deemed-to-be University) offers M.Sc in Forensic Science degree. The 2-year postgraduate course deals with the application of scientific knowledge in the investigation of crime and the study of human anatomy. In this course, students will learn all aspects of forensic science such as how clues can be collected from crime scenes and physical evidences such as hair, blood, fingerprints that are taken to the laboratories for the purpose of presenting them as evidence in court. It will also enable students to develop technical skills, scientific aptitude, and keen observational skills.

With a Master’s degree in Forensic Science, one can work in the government sector, particularly in various law enforcement agencies such as police, the legal system, and the investigative services of the central government and state governments. A major chunk of trained forensic scientists are hired by the Intelligence Bureau (IB), the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), etc. Another interesting career, rather the most attractive option for forensic scientists is teaching in institutes that impart education in forensic science. Students can also pursue post-graduation and research for further job opportunities.
