M.Tech in Embedded System Design Engineering - M.Tech Embedded Systems Design: Embedded systems have been part of our day to day life starting from mobile phones, laptops, and many other gadgets. The area of embedded systems design has seen a tremendous growth in last few years. Jain University – School Of Engineering and Technology’s Department Of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) offers M.Tech in Embedded Systems Design that provides abundant opportunities in Software Design and Development, ASIC Design & FPGA Prototyping, Government sectors like Metro Trails, Robotics & Automation, etc., and students can make their bright future towards Embedded Product Development, R & D Sector and can also opt for doctoral programs. Also, this program will deal with the concept of Software Defined Radio (SDR) which has revolutionized the computing & communication methods and there has been a paradigm shift in these fields of study.

What will I experience?

M.Tech Embedded Systems Design course is comprised of subjects dealing with Advanced Microprocessors, Real Time Operating Systems, DSP System and Architecture, VLSI Technology and Design, ARM and much more. With a wide choice of electives ranging from MEMS, Advanced OS, SOC Architecture, and Wireless networks will help you opt and pursue your research interests. Guidance will be provided to pursue research and opportunities to pursue internship will be provided.

What opportunities might it lead to?

SET, JU provides ample placement opportunities to students and even the M.Tech Students are encouraged to do an internship to gain industry experience. For facilitating internships, the institute has made arrangements and collaborations with some corporations to host interns from this program. SET, JU has signed an MOU with Texas Instruments, Orange Semiconductors, ISRO and other core companies for partnering in the program offering some high-end industry-oriented training & opportunities for an internship.

Curriculum Structure & Teaching

I Semester
  • The first semester comprises of Advanced Microprocessor Lab giving an insight on how to design and develop an embedded system.
  • The first semester comprises of 5 theory subjects namely Embedded System Design, Advanced Microprocessors for Embedded System Design, Embedded Programming using C, Embedded Real-Time Operating Systems and Automotive Electronics which help the student gain an in-depth knowledge.
II Semester
  • The second semester comprises of VLSI and Embedded Systems Design Laboratory which open the minds of the students towards the concepts of design and implementation while creating a research interest.
  • Four core theory subjects namely DSP system & Architecture, VLSI Technology and Design, Engineering. Approach to Digital Design and Embedded System Communication and networks.
  • An elective is offered in the 2nd semester that can be chosen from MEMS, Advanced Operating Systems, System On Chip Architecture, Wireless LAN’s and PAN’s.
III Semester
  • The third semester comprises of two compulsory theory subjects namely Electronic Packaging, Model-Based Development of Embedded system along with an elective that can be opted from Hardware and Software Co-Design/ Embedded Computing/ Advanced Computer Architecture/ Network Security and Cryptography.
  • A mini project/Technical Seminar has to be presented by the students.
  • Opportunities for training, internship at Industry and Research Organizations are provided.
IV Semesters
  • This semester is fully dedicated for project work either at the University, Industry or Research Organization.
