M.Tech in Signal Processing and VLSI - Signal Processing and VLSI Technology have been seeing tremendous growth in the past few years. The importance of signal processing in communication technology and health sector, a breakthrough in nanometer transistor design have all led to the requirements of engineers/research scholars in the field of Signal Processing and VLSI. Jain (Deemed-to-be University) – School Of Engineering and Technology’s Department Of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) offers M.Tech in Signal Processing and VLSI which provides an insight to the advances in signal processing techniques along with the currents trends in the field of VLSI Design. The flow of the course prepares the student with all the necessary knowledge to be industry ready and to pursue research.

What will I experience?

M.Tech Embedded Systems Design course is comprised of subjects dealing with Multirate Systems and Filter Banks, CMOS VLSI Design, Analog Mixed-Mode VLSI Design and RF Integrated Circuits, Adaptive Signal Processing, DSP Algorithm and Implementations, Low Power VLSI Design and a wide range of electives to suit the research interests of the individuals. Guidance will be provided to pursue research and opportunities to pursue internship will be provided.

What opportunities might it lead to?

SET, JU provides ample placement opportunities to students and even the M.Tech Students are encouraged to do an internship to gain industry experience. For facilitating internships, the institute has made arrangements and collaborations with some corporations to host interns from this program. SET, JU has signed an MOU with Texas Instruments, Orange Semiconductors, ISRO and other core companies for partnering in the program offering some high-end industry-oriented training & opportunities for an internship.

Curriculum Structure & Teaching

I Semester
  • The first semester comprises of CMOS VLSI Design Lab giving an insight on how to design and develop a VLSI Circuits
  • The first semester comprises of 4 compulsory theory subjects namely Linear Algebra, Multirate Systems and Filter Banks, CMOS VLSI Design and Statistical Signal Processing along with an elective (System and Simulation, Digital Control Systems and Probability and Random Variables) which help the student gain an in-depth knowledge
II Semester
  • The second semester comprises of Advanced DSP Laboratory which opens the minds of the students towards the concepts of Digital Signal Processing.
  • Four core theory subjects namely Testing and Testability, Analog Mixed-Mode VLSI Design and RF Integrated Circuits, Adaptive Signal Processing and Digital Signal Compression
  • An elective is offered in the 2nd semester that can be chosen from VLSI Algorithms Synthesis and Verification, Artificial Neural Network and Pattern Recognition
III Semester
  • The third semester comprises of two compulsory theory subjects namely DSP algorithms implementation in VLSI, Low Power VLSI Design along with an elective that can be opted from Embedded System Design / Biomedical Signal Processing / Advanced Computer Architecture
  • A mini project/Technical Seminar has to be presented by the students
  • Opportunities for training, internship at Industry and Research Organizations are provided

    This semester is fully dedicated for project work either at the University, Industry or Research Organization
