Jain University's NSS Wing of School of Commerce Studies Organized 'Annual Special Camp'

Jain University's NSS wing of School of Commerce Studies organized a seven-day long intra-collegiate social initiative program 'Annual Special Camp' from 10 November to 16 November 2017 in the college premises.

The core objective of the program was to create awareness among students about the rural and socio-economic life of a village. Around 50 NSS volunteers along with two NSS officers took part in the program. The aim of the special camp was to plant around 2000 saplings at Kanakapura campus.

The program began with the inaugural function of NSS camp by the Chief Guest Smt. Girijamma Mariyappa, President, Gram Panchayat which was followed by dividing students into 5 groups and assigning them responsibilities such as prayer, discipline, reporting and flag hoisting.

During the seven-day long program, NSS volunteers planted 1680 saplings at the campus. They also had an opportunity to attend the enlightening guest lecture sessions by professors. On the second day of camp, Prof. Rajani Jairam, Dean, Student Welfare spoke on Youth for Values Development and Harmony. On the third day, Mr. Punithraj delivered a lecture on Rethinking of Life Skills. He spoke about how life skills play a major role in the life of every individual and how that rejuvenate the life.

On the fourth-day, Mr. Pranesh Achar spoke on Relevance of Veda in Modern India and on fifth-day Mr. Vasanth Kumar while delivering a speech on Youth for Social Service, he stated that the commitment and focus are required by youth engaged in service in order to bring the changes in the country. And, on the sixth-day Mr. Kiran spoke on Youth for Digital India. In his talk, he mentioned the importance of digitization for youth and in present scenario how digitization can impact youth positively.

On the last day, the program concluded with a valedictory session which marked an official close of the annual camp.

The program helped students to learn about the rural and socio-economic life of a village, thus achieving the purpose of the program.
