HS Sharath - Indian Bowler

Hosagavi Shivalingaiah Sharath, commonly known as HS Sharath is an Indian first-class cricketer who plays for Karnataka in domestic cricket. The 24-year-old right-arm medium-fast bowler has received his education at Jain University, Bangalore.

Becoming a revelation during the 2013-14 Ranji Trophy, his overall figures of 8 wickets for 89 runs against Mumbai in the league helped Karnataka to their first-ever outright victory against the defending champions and Sharath was declared Man of the Match. He claimed 53 wickets from overall seven matches for his state team in the season and became the second highest wicket-taker in the 2013-14 season.

Drawing the attention of many, Sharath has taken 49 wickets in his 13 first-class matches played so far. Recently, during a match between Karnataka and Mumbai, he played a significant role by claiming 5 wickets for 57 runs in the first innings and 3 wickets for 12 runs. He played exceptionally well against Orissa in 2016 and took 5 wickets for 80 runs.

Hailing from a small village near to Bengaluru, Sharath never looked back once he got into the field of cricket. Born in a family that is financially humble, he has walked on water to become what he is today. Gone through tight schedules of strenuous net practice after college hours, his is a journey of unabated struggle. When he was young, he showed an inclination towards Kabbadi and it was later at the age of 16, he developed an interest in cricket. By 2009, he started making progress in the Under-19 tournaments from the Mysore Zone. He made his first-class debut against Uttar Pradesh in Meerut by capturing 5 wickets for 67 runs.

Satisfied with his earnings by playing the longest format of the game, he also worked in the banking sector for a short period of time to ensure financial stability. Banker by day and cricketer by night, Sharath continues with hours of practice at the M. Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru. The diligent fast-medium pacer is currently playing Herons Club in KSCA first division league. He has learned a lot under the supervision of legends Dennis Lillee and Glenn McGrath during the training sessions at the MRF Pace Foundation in Chennai.
