Mayank Agarwal - Indian Batsman

Mayank Agarwal became famous at the 2010 Under-19 World Cup where he was the top run-getter when India played its innings. The 26-year-old Indian cricketer is an alumnus of Jain University, Bengaluru. His great debut and aggressive style of batting inspired by Virender Sehwag earned him an integral place in Karnataka’s T20 and IPL teams.

The top run-getter had a great start during the Under-19 Tournament in 2008-09 and became a star of the team that toured Australia in 2009 by scoring the highest runs in five matches. Beginning his career with the Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2011, he scored a 30-ball 64 against Mumbai Indians in 2012, making it his career’s best score in IPL. Later, because of his impressive style, Mayank was chosen to be a part of Delhi Daredevils (DD) in 2014.

The attacking batsman shot into the limelight because of his flamboyant strokes and impressive performance in the Under-19 Cooch Behar Trophy in 2008-09 and ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup in 2010. He was also awarded ‘Man of the Series’ in the Karnataka Premier League in 2010 where he was one of the few bright spots in an otherwise disappointing tournament.

Owing his success to his parents and college, the prolific opening batsman for DD and Karnataka have also been a part of the mega annual sports event VIE in 2012 conducted by Jain University. Recently, he has been acquired by the Rising Pune Supergiant in 2017. Mayank is someone for whom every IPL match is a learning opportunity with new challenges in every season which has made him a better player.

Due to Mayank’s attractive strokes on both sides, Karnataka emerged victorious over Chhattisgarh in the Vijay Hazare Trophy Tournament at the Jadavpur University in March 2017. Other than Sehwag, he is also a big fan of Sachin Tendulkar and admires how he takes on bowlers.
