Do you know that several animals and birds are standing on the verge of destruction because of excessive poaching, illegal trading, loss of habitat, pollution and deforestation in India? According to an estimate, in India about 200 species of wild animals and birds have become extinct and another 2,500 are on the verge of extinction.
To create awareness about protecting wild life of India, 10 cadets from 2A/5 Coy NCC, Jain (Deemed-to-be University), affiliated to 7 Karnataka Battalion NCC has taken a bicycle expedition from Bangalore to Bandipur which will cover a distance of 500 kilometers. The 9-day expedition led by Major Arvind Kumar, was flagged off by Dr. B T Venkatesh, Adviser, Examinations, Jain (Deemed-to-be University) and Dr. B A Vasu, Center Head, School of Commerce Studies, Jain (Deemed-to-be University).
“During my childhood I loved to ride bicycle. Today, I am happy that my childhood passion has come in handy for a cause,” said Csuo Jerry Blaze, a Cadet in the National Cadet Corps (NCC) as he was getting ready for a unique bicycle expedition. “Apart from creating awareness about the wild life, the expedition also focuses on women empowerment and highlighting the importance of NCC as part of co-curricular activities”, he added.
