About the special lecture

Harappan Civilization or Indus Valley Civilization has its earliest roots in cultures such as that of Mehrgarh, approximately 6000 BCE. The two greatest cities, Mohenjo-daro and Harappa, emerged around 2600 BCE along the Indus River valley in Punjab and Sindh. Harappan Civilization was contemporary with ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia and surpassed them as a civilized society in many respects.

To throw light on the new dimensions and antecedents of Harappan Civilization, Jain (Deemed-to-be University) in association with Mythic Society and Archaeological Survey of India organizes a special lecture. Padmashri Shri Dr. R S Bisht, Former Joint Director General, Archeological Survey of India and Prof. A Sundra, Retd. Professor, Department of Ancient History and Epigraphy, Karnataka University, Dharwad will preside over the function.
