JU-SET Organized ‘PARITRAANA’- a Self-Defense Workshop for its Students
28 Sep 2017
Self-defense, especially for women, is of great importance in the country like India where the crime cases such as rape, molestation, kidnapping, acid attacks and eve-teasing are on the rise.
Studies have revealed that the criminals tend to choose their targets when the potential victims are unaware of surroundings. Hence, it is very important for each woman to become vigilant and be totally aware of the surroundings.
Keeping in mind the importance of teaching self-defense techniques to women, School of Engineering and Technology, Jain (Deemed-to-be University) in association with Rock Solid Team organized a self-defense workshop “PARITRAANA” on 8-9 September 2017.
The objective of the workshop was to train the students of JU-SET so that they are aware of the strategies to be adopted under adverse circumstances.
During the workshop, Master Chandru of Rock Solid and his team showcased various moves to safeguard women from the attacker during adverse times. They also gave the following useful tips during the time of danger
i. Pretend to be submissive at first and fight back when the attacker is off guard
ii. Stay fit to run fast
iii.Keep a check while walking on the road and avoid high-heeled footwear
iv. Say out “STOP” in a loud and aggressive voice
The session was very useful for students who enjoyed learning various moves taught to them.
