Srinidhi Ramesh Shetty - Miss Supranational India ’16
Srinidhi Shetty, the first runner-up of Yamaha Fascino Miss Diva 2016, who is yet to represent India in an International Pageant - Miss Supranational 2016 slated for December, has already set a precedent by pursuing her passion. This Mangalorean girl who is an engineer by profession came to realize about her inclination towards fashion when she was pursuing her engineering at Jain (Deemed-to-be University) . An array of opportunities to associate herself with dance and fashion teams at School of Engineering and Technology (SET) provided her with the scope to strengthen the basis for her future goals.
Although a beauty icon now, Srinidhi still considers herself as one who is yet to find her niche. She owes all her success to her teachers and faculty members who have constantly encouraged her to pursue her interest.
According to Srindhi, it is all about ‘who you become at the end of the day, and the path that leads to your ultimate being is paved by your own determination’. Her idea of beauty is not that of conventional and her opinion about fashion as a career provides an interesting insight. She shares her feelings about her achievement and views on a range of topics.
On modelling as a career: The trend is now changing and modelling is increasingly being considered as a conventional career. For me modelling was never an unconventional stream. It always seemed to me interesting and I always wanted to be a part of it, and I am happy that I am a part of it. Everybody around me including my family, friends and lecturers are proud of me and happy about my success. Every field has its own pros and cons, and so is the fashion industry. If modelling is the career where you think you want to put your heart and soul into then I don’t think there’s anything harm in it. There is nothing right or wrong, it’s the way you approach it. I think it’s a very good platform for young women like us where we get the scope to voice our choices, influence other young people and project ourselves with the personality that we have.
On beauty: Beauty for me is something that is both external and internal. It’s way beyond the physical appearance that we see. Beauty could be anything, starting from the sunrise that I see in the morning to the small help that we do to other people; it’s in everything. Leading a beautiful life itself reflects a true sense of beauty. I think beauty is something that is there around you and gives you happiness.

Role of Jain (Deemed-to-be University)
: Jain (Deemed-to-be University)
was like my second home when I moved from Mangalore to Bangalore. Here, I not only studied and pursued my course but also got the scope to participate in many other activities including, sports, dance and fashion shows. The lecturers played an important role in encouraging me and supporting my interests. They really encouraged me and also helped me when I required their guidance.
Whatever I am here today is because of each one of their contributions.
Message to young peers: I don’t think I have grown enough to give any suggestion to others, however the thing that I want to share with all, and in fact what I have also learned myself, is that give your heart and soul in whatever you do. You may feel stuck or end up doing something that you didn’t like to do in your life, however that shouldn’t come in your way to trying. Figure out where your passion lies and then give your best to pursue it, and one day you will be successful for sure. Follow your dreams and do not self-doubt. Because each one of us is born with some special qualities that make us unique and amazing in our own way.
