Jain (Deemed-to-be University) conducted motorcycle expedition from Bangalore to Vasco Da Gama, Goa, for promoting women empowerment & safety
The NCC unit of Jain (Deemed-to-be University) (Top University in Bengaluru) recently conducted a five-day motorcycle expedition from Bangalore to Vasco Da Gama, Goa, for promoting women empowerment and safety. Seven cadets participated in the trip. The journey was flagged off on 22nd October 2015 by Col P K Singh, Commanding Officer, 7 Kar Bn NCC, Bangalore at the Jain (Deemed-to-be University) Campus at Jayanagar and culminated on 27 October 2015 at Bangalore. “There is no better way to assimilate knowledge other than travel. Our country has so many beautiful places, and diverse cultures, and it is important that we must have an understanding of our nation. I applaud Jain (Deemed-to-be University) for providing their students with support and encouragement to take up this long journey,” said Col P K Singh addressing the gathering at the flag-off ceremony.
The theme of women empowerment and safety was inspired by the all-women contingent’s participation in this year’s Republic Day parade for the very first time. The cadets tried to create awareness among the native people about the importance of gender equality and women’s education throughout their journey.
Nikhil Julka, Company Junior Under Officer and B.Com student of Jain (Deemed-to-be University) enjoyed the expedition but was always focused on the theme of promoting women empowerment and safety. “I enjoyed the stretch from Panjim to Jog Falls immensely. It was a picturesque route and we interacted with the locals and tried to create awareness among them about women empowerment. We tried to communicate with women and tried educate them about their rights and privileges,” he said.

Jerry Blaize, B.Com student and Company Senior on the Roster, had this to say about the expedition, “From 1997 onwards, the NCC cadets of Jain (Deemed-to-be University) have been conducting expeditions like this every year. We obeyed all the traffic rules and our pillion riders wore helmets as per the regulations. Single formations, hand signals, and all other safety measures were followed to ensure a safe and empowering journey. This helped to nurture our team spirit and unity. We went as a team and came back as a team. ”
>The 1,420km to-and-fro journey from Bangalore to Vasco Da Gama was conducted under the able leadership of Company Commander, Major Arvind Kumar. The cadets were committed to the cause of creating awareness among the people about women empowerment and safety and conducted talks during the entire duration of their expedition.
