Centre for Nano and Material Sciences, Jain (Deemed-to-be University) entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the National Research Development Corporation, an Enterprise of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Ministry of Science & Technology, for the commercialization of technologies developed in the institute and securing financial assistance for IPR protection.
The MoA was signed by Dr. H. Purushotham, Chairman and Managing Director, NRDC and Dr. Geetha Balakrishna, Director of CNMS-Jain (Deemed-to-be University), on June 10, 2016.
Highlighting the importance of such a crucial agreement, Dr. Geetha said that it will immensely help to leverage the productivity of the research work by bringing visibility to it. “This agreement will help in a massive way to accelerate the process of technology development and propagate the news of new discoveries to the right market,” she added.
She also emphasized the significance of roping in NRDC, by saying that, “NRDC basically acts as a mediator between the research institute and the industry. It will help us to identify and comprehend the industrial need and approach the potential buyer for our products.”
Talking about the support that NRDC is going to provide to the institute, the director of CNMS said, “It will financially help us to file the patent and secure the license for it. It will also provide support in negotiating with the right industry and collaborate with them.”
NRDC, which is widely recognized as the reliable repository of wide-range of technologies across different industry verticals, will help the institute to promote its meritorious invention and will also provide its services in IP evaluation and valuation in terms of their commercial potential to CNMS. The agreement is valid for a period of ten years from May 2016.
