In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and the student’s welfare being of utmost priority, Jain (Deemed-to-be University) has temporarily suspended all its on-campus classes and have shifted to online-based teaching. Being at the forefront of delivering a modern and innovative style in teaching, the University has adopted a technology-first approach to ensure the continuity of the teaching-learning process and create an effective online learning environment.
Ranked as one of India’s top private universities, the faculty and staff at Jain (Deemed-to-be University) have put together a robust online system that has ensured the continuity of the teaching-learning process. Effective from March 16, 2020 students across all campuses were asked to access their learning materials, attend live classroom sessions and view pre-recorded events via LMS portal from their place of stay via their smartphones and/or computers. In a bid to utilize the situation more constructively and also to ensure that the studies aren’t compromised, the faculties were given adequate training on the latest technologies and software tools for hosting live classes.
The University has rolled out a combination of not only online platforms like Google Classroom, Hangout but also of methodologies to promote interactive learning through demonstration, to replicate the learning experience in a classroom. For instance, while teaching the students “Security Features” as part of the module on Cloud Computing, the faculty shared the tools beforehand with learners and then interactively explored the security features of multiple platforms like AWS, CISCO, and Microsoft during a video conference. Eventually, the learners were encouraged to write code and share the screenshot of the output through Google Classroom which was then used to evaluate the output and interact with the students. The venues have changed but the learning continues without any hurdles, the goal is to make this as least disruptive as possible.
With a mix of online platforms that enables conducting lectures, hosting meetings and file-sharing; Jain (Deemed-to-be University) has been successful in delivering the best quality online learning journey to its students. Apart from ensuring uninterrupted education for its students, the University has also initiated an online admission process for the academic year and is hosting JET 2020 (Jain Entrance Tests) online for several UG and PG programs.
