Education at The D-School will be delivered by accomplished and competent Faculty members who, as Designers possess a wide range of expertise ranging from Textile Design, Product Design, Lifestyle Products and Accessories Design to UI / UX Design from major Design Institutes (including NID and IITs) and Industry.
The members of the Board of Studies and the Industry Advisory Board of The D-School are from major Design Institutes like NID, IITs and from various domains of the Industry such as IT, Manufacturing, Electronics, Handicrafts & Handloom sectors.
Rajshekhar holds an M. Des (Textiles Design) from the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad. Prior to that, he did a Diploma in Handloom Technology from Indian Institute of Handloom Technology, Varanasi. He has about 3 decades of work experience in allied areas of the Design Industry -Textiles, Handicrafts, Furniture, Interiors, Branding & Communication, Packaging Design, and Lifestyle Products & Accessories. His association in Design Education include teaching at NID, Ahmedabad, Vijayawada and Kurukshetra and other Private Design Institutes as Visiting Faculty. Rajshekhar is a consultant Designer to many NGOs across India and various State Textiles and Handicraft Organizations in Karnataka, West Bengal and M.P. He has also held key positions in the Design departments in leading textile manufacturing and export houses in Bengaluru, Delhi and Kolkata.
Tina holds a B. Des in Textile and Apparel Design from the National Institute of Design (NID, Ahmedabad). She is a design mentor skilled in design management, design strategy and category management, with a work experience of more than 18 years in the industry. She has played key roles with online and offline retail players like Urban Ladder, Fabindia and Zanav Home as a founding member in setting up furnishing and garments businesses in the area of design and product development in both export and domestic markets. Tina is also one of the founders and creative head of her own ventures, Aalo and Incy Wincy which have carved out a niche in their own rights in the craft’s space.
Darshan holds an M. Des from MS Ramaiah School of Advanced Studies. He has over 17 years of industry experience in Automotive and Product design domain. His previous engagements were with General Motors, Mahindra, Tata Elxsi and many other companies. He has good knowledge of the automotive industry and Design processes as per global standards. His areas of interest are in Industrial Design of products and automotive sector. He has academic experience with design schools before joining Jain University
Bappa holds a Bachelor of Visual Arts (BFA – Applied Arts) from the Government College of Art and Craft, Kolkata and an MFA (Applied Art) from Govt. Institute of Fine Art, Jabbalpur. Post this Bappa has worked in the Industry for about 7 years – at TIS (Tata Interactive Systems) as Executive Illustrator & Visualizer, at PwC (PriceWaterhouseCoopers) Kolkata as Associate Brand Designer. Post these, he has 7 years of teaching experience at the MIT Institute of Design, Pune as an Assistant Professor. He is currently pursuing his PhD from the IITG (Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati)
Kiran holds a B. Tech (Electronics and Communication Engg.) from Anna University and an M. Des in Industrial Design from the IIT Delhi. He started his career as an Industrial Designer in the domain of Automotive Styling. His design works were showcased in International Auto expo and Defence expo 2012. He has over 7 years of experience in teaching design at various levels including experience at the Kerala State Institute of Design.
Amulya holds a BVA (specialization in Sculptures) from the Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath, Bengaluru after which, she has done PG Professional Diploma in Craft Design from IICD, Jaipur. This unique combination of Fine Arts and Design has exposed her to a wide spectrum knowledge of various materials and techniques. She was professionally associated in Craft Research at the R&D Campus of the National Institute of Design (NID). She has contributed to inspiring the society in collaboration with various organizations (Uravu Indigenous Science & Technology Study Centre) & Industry (Dovetail Furniture Pvt. Ltd.) through her projects.
Vijayasri completed her schooling from Kendriya Vidyalaya Naval Armament Depot, Vizag and shifted to Hyderabad, earned a BSc. (Hons) Degree in Home Science (specialization in Apparel & Textile Design) from College of Home Science, Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU), Hyderabad, Telangana. Later she pursued her Master’s in Soft Material Specialization from Indian Institute of Crafts and Design (IICD),
Vindyashree holds a B.Tech in Biotechnology from the BMS College of Engg and an M.Sc in Technopreneurship and Innovation from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore and later from Stanford University, USA. She is an entrepreneur by passion and apart from teaching at The D-School, she also heads two successful startups in Bangalore.
