A Session on 'The Future of the Accountant in Business'

About the Event

Jain (Deemed-to-be University)'s School of Commerce Studies is organizing an intra-collegiate student and faculty interactive session named 'The Future of the Accountant in Business' on 20 January 2018.

The sessions aims at making students and faculty members aware of how technology has an impact on the future business/corporate world.

The chief guest of the event is Mr. Jeffrey C. Thomson, CMA, CAE, President and CEO of the IMA (Institute of Management Accountants), US and one of the Accounting Today's Top 100 Most Influential People in Accounting.

Jeffrey is an optimist who uses “technology” and “enablement” in the same breath. He talks about how big data, robots, cognitive computing and other emerging technologies are changing everything from tax preparation to audits and to M&As.

The core objective of the event is to make faculties and students understand that

  • What are the risks and opportunities for accountants in business?
  • What technologies do accountants need to be aware of and master?
  • How does one improve analysis and insight skills to become a trusted business partner?
  • What are the challenges keeping CFOs and finance executives up at night?
