Endophytic Microorganisms for Sustainable Cultivation of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants

As a part of the 'Words of Wisdom' event, Department of Microbiology & Botany is organizing a lecture session on the topic "Endophytic Microorganisms for Sustainable Cultivation of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants”, for the M.Sc. Life Science students of Jain (Deemed-to-be University). The guest addressing the students is Dr. C.S. Vivek Babu, Senior Scientist - Microbiology, CSIR-Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants. Dr. C.S Vivek Babu has a diverse experience in the area of microbiology and development of novel insecticides of microbial origin, with over ten years of hands on expertise in the academic and industrial sector. He worked as DBT-Post doctoral fellow (2006-2008) at Department of Biochemistry, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and he gained experience in development of novel insecticides from microbial origin. Later from 2008 to mid-2012, he worked as Associate Scientist at ITC Corporate R&D at Hyderabad and Bangalore, where he had worked as Team leader for biorationals & bioactives program for crop protection and Cardiovascular Health Management Program. He had developed several product prototypes for Biorationals, Obesity and Diabetes management. He holds the merit of having 17 significant patents, of which 5 of them are granted in US, Europe, Australia and Malaysia in the area of crop protection. He will also be discussing the career opportunities for our students with CSIR.
