Jain (Deemed-to-be University) is organizing an Annual Research Retreat Program for its Doctoral Students and Supervisors on 12-13 August 2017. The Research Retreat will provide a platform for doctoral student to interact with leading researchers and also to present the progress that they have achieved in their research work.
The Retreat will be inaugurated in the presence of Dr. Chenraj Roychand, President, Jain (Deemed-to-be University) Trust, Dr. Krishnadas Nair, Chancellor of Jain (Deemed-to-be University) and Dr. N.Sundararajan, Vice Chancellor of Jain (Deemed-to-be University).
The Retreat is comprised of General Plenary Sessions, Faculty Plenary Sessions, Concurrent Sessions and Break-Out Sessions. The plenary speakers include Dr. P Balaram, Former Director Indian Institute of Science, Dr. Ashutosh Varshney, Professor of Social Sciences and Philosophy, Brown University and Mr. S V Ranganath, Vice Chairman, Karnataka State Higher Education Council.
The Retreat also consists of Concurrent Faculty Plenary Sessions. The Science Plenary speaker is Prof. Shivashankar from IISc, the Engineering Plenary speaker is Mr. Vora from TCS, the Commerce and Management Plenary Speaker is Dr. Gopal Naik from IIMB and the Languages and Social Science Plenary Speaker is Dr. Sudhir Krishnaswamy from Azim Premji University.
The Retreat also has Concurrent sessions at which Ph.D. students would present their work in progress. This time around, a new inclusion in the Retreat is the Break-out Sessions. There are eight break-out sessions on each day. The speakers include University Faculty and Ph.D. Alumni.
The Valedictory Address will be delivered by Dr. Baldev Raj Nair, Director of the National Institute for Advanced Studies (NIAS).
