Jain (Deemed-to-be University) to Organize an Event on ‘Indentureship, Caste and the Crossing of the Kala Pani’

About the Event

Jain (Deemed-to-be University)’s School of Humanities and Social Sciences in collaboration with Sahitya Akademi and Mu Chi Academy of Buddhist Sciences is going to organize an event named ‘Indentureship, Caste and the Crossing of the Kala Pani’ and invites eminent personalities to the literary forum for interactive discussion.

The literary forum provides a platform for scholars and creative writers to engage in a conversation wherein critical thinking meets creative writing.

During the event, the Chief Guest Dr. Judith Misrahi-Barak, Associate Professor at University Paul Valéry Montpellier 3, France who currently teaches English and Postcolonial Literature will present her paper on the migration of indentured Indians to foreign lands which was considered polluting their caste by crossing the seas. Dr. Mudnakudu Chinnaswamy, another Chief Guest a notable speaker, writer, and poet who is a prominent voice of Dalits and unprivileged communities will grace the occasion and recite the poetry written by him on the caste system, untouchability, and fundamentalism.
