Jain (Deemed-to-be University) ’s Department of Food Technology organized an industrial visit to Industrial Visit to Praras Biosciences Pvt. Ltd. for M.Tech students on 12 October 2018.
This is a bioscience company with environmental friendly innovative ideas for sustainable industrial growth. The company is engaged in the manufacture of specialty biochemical for diverse industries like breweries, distilleries, and food processing. The company has specialization in providing industrial biotechnology solutions for production process improvements, cost savings, important substitution and a greater sustainability to customers. Its headquarters is in Bangalore, India.
A brief description about the company was given by the manager where he explained about the production process improvement in bakery, egg free concentrates, pasta extrusion, meat processing, meat texturizer, fat reduction, gluten replacer, flour texturizer, dough conditioner etc., In beverages breweries foaming aids, mashing aids, fermentation aids, flocculating aids, distilleries enzymes for grain and molasses based fermentation, non-alcoholic emulsifiers and stabilizers for RTD beverages etc. In plantation products for both cocoa and coffee beans, Yield improver, effluent reduction, fermentation time reduction, flavor enhancement, drying time reduction, improvement in cocoa butter yield etc., In Microbial, sustainable solutions for mal-odor management, bio composting waste management, nontoxic environmentally safe water saving, reduce waste generation etc.,
The students were taken to the production line and the laboratory. Raw materials were screened by QAQC for the approval followed by de-dusting in a separate section and storing on the racks. Two production areas were observed one was dry and another was wet. In dry processing area, one double cone blender was present for efficient blending without the use of baffles and paddles. Blended material sieved through vibrating tray type sieve with adjustable sieves sizes followed by packing. The final finished products are again stored separately as liquid and solid products.
After completion of both production and laboratory section, the students were taken to an effluent treatment plant where the water recycled in ETP was utilized for the gardening.
