Workshops on 'Gender and Federalism' and 'Diversity and National Harmony' Conducted at Myanmar

Centre for Research in Social Sciences and Education (CERSSE) of Jain (Deemed-to-be University), as part of its MoU with Forum of Federations, assisted in conducting two workshops in Myanmar from 8 September to 13 September 2017. Pro Vice Chancellor of the University, Dr. Sandeep Shastri was the Chief Consultant for the workshops.
The first workshop was on the theme `Gender and Federalism` which was attended by more than 75 women participants drawn from a range of womens' organizations, political parties, and civil society groups. The session was held in Yangon on 8 and 9 September 2017. This was an exploratory workshop wherein a range of issues that linked to federalism and gender were discussed.
The other workshop was on 'Diversity and National Harmony', which was conducted from 11 - 13 September 2017. The youth leaders and activists across the country took part in the session and discussed federalism and developments in Myanmar. The workshop witnessed intense discussions on the role and participation of youth in the political process and strategies for enhancing youth involvement in Myanmar politics.
