Guest Lecture by Alumnus Mr. Sowrabh Sudevan

As a part of Inspiring Alumni series, Jain (Deemed-to-be University)’s School of Sciences conducted a guest lecture on Mathematical Analysis related to Classical Mechanics on 13 January 2018 in the college premises for the students of Mathematical Department. The guest speaker of the day was Mr. Sowrabh Sudevan who is pursuing integrated Ph.D. at Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai.

The speaker began the session with the introduction to Mathematics subject. He emphasized the importance of calculus methods in arriving at important formulae in classical physics. During the session, the speaker continued the talk briefing the mathematical formulations behind the laws of motion and later went on to explain several situations in classical mechanics where calculus of variations can be applied.

The speaker also illustrated the Mathematical modeling involving various potential functions and appropriate optimization techniques. At the end of the session, the students interacted with the speaker to get insights into various research careers available in the area of Mathematics.
