A Seminar on "Application of Psychology in Forensic Context"

Jain (Deemed to-be University)’s Department of Psychology had organized a seminar on Application of Psychology in Forensic Context by Dr. Devvarta Kumar for the students of M.Sc. Psychology on 7 August 2018.

Dr. Devvarta Kumar is an additional professor – Clinical Psychology in NIMHANS. His areas of interest are - cognition in schizophrenia, non-pharmacological interventions in schizophrenia, forensic psychology and school mental health.

The topics focused in the seminar were:
1. Basics of Forensic Psychology
2. Eye-witness testimonies

Dr. Kumar enlightened the gathering on the ‘Understanding Eyewitness Testimony’, in a detailed and systematic manner. In the light of current criminal occurrences, psychological autopsy was also discussed.

The seminar was quite insightful and informative regarding the objectives of forensic psychology, the career options this field offers and the necessity to assess eyewitness testimonies.
