School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Jain (Deemed-to-be University) organized a guest lecture on 18 July 2017. The guest speaker for the day was a well-known journalist Ms. Rohini Mohan. She has done an MA in Political Journalism from Columbia University, New York and is known for her documentary piece on "The Seasons of Trouble" which talks about the Sri Lankan Army Sinhalese and the problems faced by Tamil people living there.
Interacting with the students and faculty Ms. Rohini shared her experiences and challenges involved in making the documentary. During the talk, she mentioned about the characters she interacted with for months and how she maintained the secrecy of personal information about their lives, which reflects her determination in her field of work.
Students were inspired by her varied experiences as a journalist while she explained the pros and cons of being one.
The motivating talk concluded with a Q&A session followed by a vote of thanks to the speaker.
