A Guest Lecture on Changing Nature of Research in Science

Department of Chemistry, School of Sciences, Jain (Deemed-to-be University) organized a guest lecture on ‘Changing Nature of Research in Science’ on 7 August 2017. The guest speaker of the day was Dr. Chandrabhas Narayana, Chairman and Professor Chemistry and Physics of Materials Unit at Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research.

“Chemistry always wears the colors of nature”, this was very well understood and conceptualized after a mesmerizing lecture by Dr. Chandrabhas Narayana. As it is rightly said that science is a way off and is present all around us, which could be clearly understood by the seminar which focused on simple concepts like presence of an atom, states of existence of the matter.

Addressing the students, the guest speaker explained about the different kinds of light that are being produced, how they are developed and led to the recent developments through exploring these areas. He also highlighted many simple concepts which we generally do not notice and the applications of these concepts to explore the new areas of research.

He also motivated and guided the students with respect to shaping their careers and explained the various career options available.

The session concluded with his message “to follow your passion” inspiring students to explore the unexplored.
