As a part of 'Words of Wisdom' series, Department of Forensic Sciences, School of Sciences, Jain (Deemed-to-be University) organized a guest lecture on 'Importance of Digital Evidence in Forensic Science'. The speaker of the day was Ms. Gautami.
Introducing digital evidence, Ms. Gautami illustrated its importance with examples. She also briefed the procedure and principle involved. In her talk, she mentioned how digital evidence is processed by explaining the following mentioned four steps involved in it.
Explaining about the protocols and procedures which included software licensing, training, evidence handling, and case processing, she also said that only a few people are given the software license and are trained to handle evidence and process the case. She illustrated digital evidence with an example of air crash investigation in which she mentioned about black box which traps the signals and identifies the location of the evidence which is called assessment. Further, she went on explaining evidence examination which is comprised of four steps:
Eventually, she concluded the session by explaining the documentation and reporting by showcasing and explaining the case report.
