The Department of Chemistry, School of Sciences, Jain (Deemed-to-be University) organized a guest lecture on 'Manufacturing of Glasses' by Mr. Ramkumar, Sr. Executive at Borosil, India. The guest lecture was held in the college premises on 21 July 2017.
Stressing on the precautions to be taken while performing experiments in the Chemistry lab, the speaker explained the basic laboratory techniques such as handling the glass wares, pipetting and observing the meniscus for the solutions. In his talk, he mentioned about the various types of glass such as soda lime and borosilicate glasses. During the lecture, production of borosilicate glass and its advantages over other types of glasses were audio-visually explained to the students who enjoyed the insightful session.
The informative talk concluded with a Q&A session followed by the felicitation to the speaker.
