On the occasion of Guru Purnima, the Department of Languages had organized ‘Guru Vandana’ program on 19th July 2016. This program was graced by Dr. N. Sundararajan, Vice Chancellor, Jain (Deemed-to-be University); Dr. N.V.H Krishnan, Registrar, Jain (Deemed-to-be University); Dr. Jayagopal Uchil, Director, Academics and Planning, Jain (Deemed-to-be University), Dr. Easwaran Iyer, Dean, Commerce and Director of Placements, Jain (Deemed-to-be University) ; Dr. B T Venkatesh, Advisor, Examinations, Jain (Deemed-to-be University); Prof. N S Manjunath, Controller of Examinations, Jain (Deemed-to-be University); Dr. Rajani Jayaram, Dean, Student’s Welfare, Jain (Deemed-to-be University); Dr. Asha Rajiv, Director, Internal Quality Assurance Cell, Jain (Deemed-to-be University); and Dr. B A Vasu, Director, School of Commerce Studies, Jain (Deemed-to-be University). The event was hosted by Ms. Tessy Thomas, Faculty, Department of English, Jain (Deemed-to-be University).
The program began with the invocation song by Pooja Hegde, followed by the ‘Vedagosha’ by students. This was succeeded by the book release of Dr. Anita S Karpur, Faculty, Department of Hindi, titled “Manu Bhandari Katha Sahithya Mein Manovaignaniktha”. Dr. Renu Shukla, Senior Professor, MLA Academy of Higher Learning, Malleshwaram and Dr. Latha Chauhan, Chairman, Hindi Evaluation, Bangalore University and Professor, Bhimrao Ambedkar College were present. Dr. Renu Shukla also spoke about the book.
Dr. N. Sundararajan’s speech accoladed and appreciated the achievements and contributions of Dr. Jayagopal Uchil, Dr. N.V.H Krishnan and Dr. Easwaran Iyer to the growth of Jain (Deemed-to-be University). Then, a student sang a song praising the importance of Guru in one’s life. Dr. R Srinivasaiah, Principal, Jain Evening College spoke about importance of Guru Purnima. This was followed by the felicitation of Dr. Jayagopal Uchil, Dr. N.V.H Krishnan and Dr. Easwaran Iyer. After the Guru Vandana, Dr. Jayagopal Uchil in his acceptance speech mentioned that the university honored three Gurus, namely the Marketing Guru (Dr. Easwaran Iyer), the Management Guru (Dr. N.V.H Krishnan) and the Academics Guru (Dr. Jayagopal Uchil). He also emphasized on the seven key points to be a better person. Dr. N.V.H Krishnan, in his speech, appreciated the Managements of the Jain (Deemed-to-be University) to incorporate the changes in the management programs and accept the challenges which led to the growth of the institution. Dr. Easwaran Iyer looked at how the bridge connecting industry and education at Jain (Deemed-to-be University) has grown over the years and he fondly recollected the memories of his past experience with Jain (Deemed-to-be University). Lastly, the vote of thanks was proposed by Ms. Rajeshwari Y M, Faculty, Department of Kannada, Jain (Deemed-to-be University).
