An insight into the game art industry and pipeline

On Saturday, August 27th, the department of Animation, Jain (Deemed-to-be University) was excited to host a session by Mr. Jagadish B V, Manager - Talent acquisition from Dhruva Interactive, Bangalore.

Mr. Jagadish conducted a seminar which gave interesting insights into the gaming industry in India. He shared a few of his personal experiences of starting with a fine arts background and moving up to talent acquisition manager at Dhruva Interactive, Bangalore. The session lasted for more than two and a half hours and was attended by students and staff alike. He started by giving a brief about the gaming pipeline followed at their studio.

Mr. Jagadish B V shared a lot of game cinematics, trailers and top quality in-game footages developed by the talented artists at Dhruva. He answered all the student queries with his knowledgeable expertise. He also emphasized on the fact that the students must use the time given to them in learning and strengthening their skills rather than looking for new software or shortcuts. Mr. Jagadish later highlighted the fact that every top notch studio in the world looks at drawing fundamentals as a primary asset from the candidates they hire. He also showed a lot of examples of pre-production artwork and animation cycles that has gone into creating the props, characters and environments. Mr. Dinesh Damodaran, HOD of Animation department honored him by giving a memento. The session concluded with a few game cinematics and trailers that are yet to be released.
