Jain (Deemed-to-be University)'s School of Humanities and Social Sciences organized an inter-collegiate Economics fest 'ECOTHON' on 16-17 March 2018 at the university campus. The chief guest of the day was Prof.S.Japhet who is a Vice Chancellor at Bangalore Central University.
The Objective of the fest was to bring students across the country to a common platform to compete, achieve and succeed. The fest allowed students to get exposed to a larger world and gain insights into concepts of Economics.
In the keynote address honorable Vice Chancellor highlighted about the challenges in higher education, disastrous effects of social inequality and about sustainable development. He also spoke on widening of income inequality and its consequences and crony growth and development in the economy.
The fest also witnessed participation of 200 students across the country from 16 institutions wherein they competed in various events such as Young Economists (Best Policy Maker), Life through My Lens (Photography), Innovative Minds (Paper Presentation), Ecowiz (Quiz), Ecostorm (Debate), Mix & Fix (Collage), Chasing Capital (Treasure hunt), Economics in Cartoons (Sketching), Ec'nact (Dumb Charades), Emote & Act (Role Play) and Eco-ing (Solo Singing).
At the end of the fest the prizes were distributed to the winners. The overall championship was won by Christ University. The fest was concluded with the valedictory function.
