University fests are always a thing to look forward to as it provides a platform where the talents of the students are sparkled.
ArtForChange, an art festival was held on 18 January 2020 by the School of Humanities and Social Sciences and School of Interior Design, Jain (Deemed-to-be-University) in collaboration with Art For Change Foundation. The event was primarily aimed at giving a platform to local artists while raising funds for NGOs like Paws for a Second and Uddhyam. During the event, there was a representation of artists and their artwork, not limited to a certain art form. The event was divided into five main segments: Art stalls - Bazaar, Open-mic- Awaaz, Short-film Festival- Vitascope, Workshops and Stage Performances - Proshow.
While the festival wanted to give equal importance to various art forms promoting the versatility of art, stage art was promoted through an open-mic session - Awaaz. The event was open to everyone including people who weren’t from the campus. The session saw an overwhelming number of around forty participants. Performances included songs, instruments, slam-poetry, rap, stand-up comedy, Hindi shayari, and beatboxing.
As part of the event, two workshops were conducted focusing on major points in the field of art. The first one was, “Dance and Consciousness”. It was an amalgamation of Psychology and movement arts. The second workshop was, “Theatre for Change” which focused on how theatre can be an art form for social change.
Another event, Vitascope 2020, a short film festival saw the combination of skills and social responsibility. Short films were screened after they went through scrutiny by a team to abide by the code of conduct of the university.
