The School of Graduate Studies, Jain (Deemed-to-be University), celebrated the 70th Indian Independence on Monday, 15th August 2016, with great joy and enthusiasm and upholding the patriotic fervor. The celebration was attended by students, teachers and staff of both under-graduate and pre-university disciplines. This year the celebration was ear-marked by the presence of faculties from Center for Post Graduate Studies, Jain (Deemed-to-be University) as well.
The celebration commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag by the dignataries- Dr. Varalakshmi N, Director, CPGS; Dr. Asha Rajiv, Director, SGS & IQAC; Dr. R Shanti Iyer, Director, Forensic Science; And Capt. Dr. Rekha Sinha (NCC Girls Wing) along with the NCC convoy escorted the dignitaries’ to the Flag pole where Dr. Varalakshmi N unfurled the tricolor while the NCC girls in uniform stood in salutation.
Following this, the students of under-graduation and pre-university courses put forth a cultural interlude through which they showcased the true essence of Indian Independence. The cultural program began with an address by Dr. Varalakshmi N, Director, CPGS which reminded the youth the significance of such a freedom experienced by a country like India, and inspired the gathering. The cultural program included events like dance drama depicting the life of soldier, an act of mime depicting the religious diversity and need for unity in India, and ranking of cadets of the NCC girls wing. The program concluded with a medley of patriotic songs sung by the PUC students followed by the National Anthem.
