School of Humanities and Social Sciences in association with School of Interior Design celebrated Women's Day 'Abhinandana' on 8 March 2018 on the occasion of International Women's Day which is observed every year on 8 March.
Dr. Rekha Sinha, Director, School of Interior Design welcomed the chief guests Dr.G.N. Sangeeta, Documentarist, NMKRV College, Jayanagar, Dr. Pooja Tripathi, Physiotherapist and Dr. Aparna Baliga who is an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist who shared their valuable inputs on women empowerment and on gender equality.
Dr.G.N.Sangeeta, addressing the gathering stated that women empowerment has not reached to the optimum and our society still believe in stereotypes as pink color associated with a girl and blue for a boy. It is very essential to break these stereotypes so that society can progress and development take place. Dr. Sangeeta also spoke about raising our voices so that no one gets discriminated on the basis of gender. Her main motto is "act but never react", individuals should take life as it comes.
Further, Dr. Pooja Tripathi emphasizing on gender equality, gave her real life experience on how she became successful as an individual. She stressed on doing things which makes oneself happy. According to Dr.Pooja individuals should keep doing the good work even if they are not appreciated by others.
During the session Dr. Aparna Baliga, addressed on educating women so that equality can be achieved. She also opined that integration of women is important in order to become a successful and better citizen.
To entertain teaching and non-teaching staff, students organized cultural programs, sports and games during the event.
Dr.Mythili Rao, Director of School of Humanities and Social Sciences felicitated the guests and Dr. Jennifer Fernandes, Coordinator, Women's Cell, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Jain (Deemed-to-be University) proposed the vote of thanks.
