Dr. Choodamani Nandagopal, Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Jain (Deemed-to-be University) and Dr. Soumya Manjunath Chavan, HOD, Department of Visual Arts, Jain University, participated in the third Biennial Conference of the International Association for Asian Heritage held at the Center for Asian Studies, University of Kelaniya, Colombo, Sri Lanka, on 27 and 28 December 2015. The conference focused on topics like Archaeology, Museology, Tourism, History, Ethnology, Folklore, Traditional Knowledge, Religious Studies, Religion for Peace and Harmony, Literature, Art, Creative Works, and Contemporary Asian Studies.
Sixty papers were presented during the conference and Dr. Choodamani Nandagopal delivered the keynote address on the topic “Asian Heritage - Shared Experience of Cultural Interface” which was warmly received by the audience. Dr. Soumya Manjunath Chavan presented a very interesting paper on “Yantra – The Visual aspects of Shankara’s Philosophy and its relevance to Contemporary Indian Artists”. The conference concluded with a valedictory function followed by a two-day field trip to sites and museums of Archaeological and Historical importance like Kandy, Dumbulla, Sirgriya, and Anuradha Pura.
