It was an occasion of double celebration at Jain (Deemed-to-be University) on 26 April 2016, as it hosted a felicitation ceremony to award scholarships to the students of B.Tech first year alongside the launch of new website of School of Engineering and Technology (SET), one of the pioneering engineering colleges in Bangalore.
Jain (Deemed-to-be University) has awarded academic scholarships to 40 meritorious B.Tech first year students. The University that continues to contribute towards the promotion and advancement of such talents has spent a total of INR 20 lakh this time on the scholarship endowment.
The event began with a prayer ceremony and addresses by the esteemed guests present at the event. Evoking the achievements and prominence of Sir Isaac Newton, Vice Chancellor of Jain (Deemed-to-be University), and Col. (Hony) Dr .N Sundararajan urged the students of engineering and technology to stay committed to their path of education and yearn to explore more. “You are the representative of the society and you can uphold this trend of advancement through your sheer tenacity and endeavor,” said Dr. Sundararajan. He instilled a sense of inspiration among students by urging them to retain their academic excellence and attain more rewards in their lives.
Dr. Krishna Venkatesh, Director of School of Engineering and Technology, hailed the achievement of the students and encouraged them to explore more in the field of technology and science, which is fascinating and ever-evolving. Invoking the famous quote of American author Lillian Dickson, he said, “Life is like a coin. You can spend it any way you wish, but you only spend it once”.
The students also echoed the same view and asserted how important this reward is to motivate them plan better to accomplish their future goals. “It’s actually a boost for us and a source of encouragement to excel further in future”, said an elated Kavya Jain, a B.Tech first year student at the university and a recipient of the scholarship.
On the sideline of the scholarship award ceremony Jain (Deemed-to-be University) also unveiled the new and redesigned website for the School of Engineering and Technology (SET). With an aim to keep the digital footprint current and up-to-date, the University launched this new and improved website that is comprehensible and user-friendly. The website includes all information and details for its visitors with improved navigation and functionalities.
