Jain (Deemed-to-be University)’s School of Sciences, Department of Kannada organized Kannada Rajyotsava Celebration -“Nudi Habba” on 27 November 2018.
The celebrations started with flag hoisting by dignitaries and the chief guest. State anthem was recited by the staff. The chief guest of the event was Dr. Bhairamangala Ramegowda, Karnataka Sahitya Academy member, a renowned school in Kannada literature known for his critics and many other works. He gave an insightful talk which explained the rich heritage of this proud state Karnataka. His speech included different dimensions of Kannada literature which explained the contribution of ancient and contemporary poets to the society.
S. Chandrakumar famous as “Dollu Chandra” is a Rajya prashasti 2016 awardee performed dollu kunita along with his team. It was the special attraction of the celebration. The beat is controlled and directed by a leader with cymbals who is positioned in the center. Slow and fast rhythms alternate and group weave varied patterns mesmerized the audience. The cultural program included folk songs, recitation, Carnatic music, Bharatanatyam, dance etc. The students put a scintillating performance depicting the rich heritage and culture of Karnataka.
