Margadarshi - a Career Guidance Program Held

Vishwas, the Students Counseling and Guidance Center of Jain (Deemed-to-be University) organized 'Margadarshi', a career guidance program for final year commerce students of School of Commerce Studies on 15 December 2017 in the university premises.

The aim of the program was to help students to gain a better understanding of their academic interests, job opportunities in various fields and career options available.

The session began with an introduction to Vishwas and its initiatives including the works in promoting mental health and the support areas that it has extended for students. Dr. Uma Warrier, Chief Counsellor introduced ‘Margadarshi’ which is one of the initiatives of Vishwas, its aim and its usefulness to students. The session continued with a lecture by Mrs. Jahnavi Kajjer, Career Counsellor who was the speaker of the day.

Mrs. Jahnavi began the session while addressing the job differences between public sector and private sector and advised students’ to identify right sector for them. Further, she spoke about different courses available in the areas of Commerce and Management and advantages and disadvantages of these courses. She also emphasized the difference between studying in India and abroad during the session.

During the session, the speaker highlighted the job opportunities available right from the banking sector to accuracies and the growth in these organizations including various organizations’ structure and pre-requisites to get into such organizations. She also shed a light on the importance of start-ups and entrepreneurship and the abilities to become an entrepreneur.

The session concluded with distribution of FAQ’s answered by the resource person. The program benefited nearly 100 students of B.Com, BMS, and BCA stream.
