International Mother Language Day is observed every year on 21 February to foster awareness of cultural diversity and multilingualism. It was announced by UNESCO on 17 November 1999 and was first observed on 21 February 2000.
In connection to this, School of Interior Design, Jain (Deemed-to-be University) observed a Mother Tongue Day on 21 February which was a juncture to encourage each to preserve their mother tongue knowledge, meanwhile promote learning and using other languages.
In the event, students showcased their talent in writing in their mother tongue and the best writing was published on the notice board.
Also, the discussions were held in language classes where students were allowed to speak in their mother tongue and the challenges faced today.
