National Conference on Advances in the Semiconductor Materials and Device Technologies Held

Jain (Deemed-to-be University)’s Department of Physics, School of Sciences organized a two-day national conference on Advances in the Semiconductor Materials and Device Technologies (NCASMDT) from 12-13 February 2018 at the university campus.

Dr. Manoj Umesh Sharma, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Semiconductor Technology and Applied Research Centre (SITAR), Bengaluru, along with Dr. N. Sundararajan, Vice Chancellor, Jain (Deemed-to-be University), Dr. Jayagopal Uchil, Dean of Sciences, Director, Academics & Planning, Jain (Deemed-to-be University), and Dr. Dinesh K Sharma, convener NCASMDT - 2018 formally inaugurated the event.

The main objective of the conference was to discuss the recent advances in the semiconductor materials and device technologies. The culmination of the objectives was accomplished through the 8 invited talks, 2 talks by the sponsors, 14 selected papers for oral presentations from the participants followed by a detailed interactive panel discussion.

The conference was attended by many participants which included researchers from different universities such as IISc Bangalore, Mangalore University, Karnataka University Dharwad, Bangalore University, Christ University, VHNSN College, Tamilnadu, JNCASR, Bengaluru, and Jain (Deemed-to-be University), Bengaluru, Scientists from ISRO, engineers from industries such as Prolyx Microelectronics Private Ltd, and Nanochip Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Bengaluru.

The conference addressed a variety of topics relevant to the theme, including specific questions about the research system at large, such as research assessment, funding, metrics, and indicators of research output. Through a wide range of invited talks, and discussions, participants have been presented with new ways to deal with some of the challenges especially in semiconductor materials and device technologies.
